Looking for Your Face

I read somewhere that the mind can only think of one thing at a time. Thank God! What wonderful leverage to use as a tool in meditation. I’m sure any path in spiritual union begins in teaching ways to still the mind in order to develop deep concentration. Being able to hold one thought in my experience begins to harmonize with what I’m going to call, Original Thought or the pure love and bliss of God.

After a short practice of the asanas (yoga postures) I allowed time for 30 minutes of meditation this morning. Throughout my practice I noticed the imbalances in my body. A strained muscle in my mid-back caused me to slow down my movements while using my breath as a repetitive mantra for my desire to unravel myself to Divine’s healing love.

When meditating I noticed to consistently have a shift in consciousness at about 20 minutes. This shift causes a feeling of expansion to occur within me. I try not to disturb the moment, but my thoughts begin to analyze the experience and the moment becomes a flicker in my awareness not easy to hold. This is an interesting area boggling the minds of quantum physicist. They say thoughts are energy. On the quantum level all the rules go out the window. It seems the particle or the wave doesn't play by the rules but is effected by the influence of the observer. During that brief moment one begins to appreciate great poets like Rumi. I enjoy the reading of this adaptation from Deepek Chopra’s Cd, “Gift of Love”.

From the beginning of my life
I have been looking for your face
But today I’ve seen it.
Today I’ve seen the charm, the beauty, the unfathomable grace of the face that I was looking for .
Today I have found you.
And those who laughed and scorned me yesterday are sorry that they were not looking as I did.
I am bewildered by the magnificence of your beauty and wish to see you with a hundred eyes.
My heart has burned with passion and has searched forever for this wondrous beauty that I now behold
I am ashamed to call this love human
And afraid of God to call it divine.
Your fragrant breath like the morning breeze has come to the stillness of the garden.
You have breathed new life into me
I have become your sunshine and also your shadow.
My soul is screaming in ecstasy.
Every fiber of my being is in love with you.
Your effulgence has lit a fire in my heart
And you have made radiant for me the earth and sky.
My arrow of love has arrive at the target
I am in the house of mercy
and my heart is a blaze of prayer.
